While you wait for the crew
- Shut off the water at the fixture stop or the main by the sidewalk if it is still flowing.
- Kill power at the breaker to any room where water is near outlets or fixtures.
- Move what you can: electronics, documents, and furniture legs out of the wet zone.
- Do not run the HVAC; it spreads moisture and, in fire losses, soot.
- Take a few photos if it is safe. Your future claim will thank you.
